A BRIEF HISTORY OF NEW VILLAGERS CLUB

In December of 1997, Carol Englander posted a notice in the Connection looking for Tellico Village residents interested in forming a “newcomers” group.

The first meeting of the “newcomers” group was in February 1998 with 90 residents crowded in a small room at the Chota Rec Center. Led by organizers Judy Colocotronis, Elva Follows, Nancy McKnight, Peggy Knapp Donna Compton, and Maria Lammi, The New Villagers Club had been born with the sole purpose of promoting friendship through social functions.

Today, 26 years later, New Villagers Club is a thriving social club solely organized and managed by its volunteer members with over 1500 active members. Joining New Villagers is essential for acclimating to life in East Tennessee and accessing more than 200 special events throughout the year for the sole purpose of promoting . . .

FUN, FRIENDSHIPS, AND BELONGING.
